RRR Rigger

RRR Rigger

This boat has quite a history and has logged a few miles on its journey.  It was originally designed and fabricated by Don Wollard of Rum Runner Racing for Ray Fuller.  Ray promised never to sell the boat so instead he gave it away with a set of hardware that he sold to go with the boat.  Someone else purchased the hardware from Ray and I subsequently purchased it from them. This boat was/is called Spirit II Spirit of Washington.

When I got the boat it was in need of some TLC, so I did a significant amount of patching, sanding, gluing and painting to get it back into racing form.  There is still a bit more to go but its in overall good shape at this time.  Don was kind enough to send me an original picture of the boat so I could see it in its prime!

This is the first rigger and first brushless setup that I have put together, quite a bit different than what I have done in the past.  I wanted to see what all the hype was about rigger and brushless speed.  Well its fast, darn fast, the one GPS run clocked in at 51 but I think there were some faster passes than that.  I had a significant water invasion problem that slowed things down and gave some glitching.  It might be the prop shaft but there was a lot of water ..... need to do some bathtub testing!

Below are some pictures and videos of it action.
