Viper Turbine

H&M Viper Turbine

This was my first entry into the greater than 6-8 cells, this one I run on 12 cells and the motor is supposed to be able to go some more.  I thought 12 was insane and my driving skills will need to improve before I go add more to this setup!

This hydro uses a combination of Fullers and Fine Design hardware, RC Hydros ESC, Hitec servo, FMA fury receiver (dual conversion 75Mhz FM).  I tried an internal antenna so the boat maintained  its scale look but had range problems so I replaced it with a dean's boat antenna.

Due to a mishap with incompatible paints I had to completely strip all the paint off Argh!  I had a problem with the second coat due to my bad masking .... I'm beginning to think this thing wants to run in the raw!  At least the yellow base is on as well as the decals.

Below are some pictures and a couple of video clips.

Setup

HM InsideClose up of inside of the boat, you can see the attempt to add can cooling in addition to brush cooling.  The  motor mount did not leave room for much can cooling.  Servo on the left, receiver on the right, ESC way up front.  I've since removed the can cooling and just cool the ESC and brushes.
